It has been an amazing journey here in the Big Apple.  It’s been our home away from home for a little over 3 years now.  I’ve moved to 5 different apartments, ate at some of the most delicious places ever created and met some incredible people along the way.  I officially launched my business here and have been able to learn from some truly amazing people and photographers.Statue of Liberty at Sunset

Now it is time to call a new place home.  Brittany Lauren Photography will be moving south to Charlotte, NC starting May 1.  It’s a bittersweet move but I am very excited about what the future holds!  I will definitely miss some things about NYC but there are definitely things I don’t mind leaving behind.

Things I will miss about NYC
1. Endless restaurants to eat at any time of the day or night and the fact that they will deliver it to your door if you don’t want to dine in.  Seamless.com I will miss you and your app.
2. The quality of people watching on any given day
3. The abundance of public transportation
4. The culture and character of all the different neighborhoods especially West Village
5.  The variety of fresh markets for produce, flowers and unique eats you can only get here
6. Window shopping at all the fancy places
7. Discovering something new about the city everyday
8. Cute coffee shops
9. Our current apartment.  It has started to feel like home, so cozy and cute.  I put a lot of thought into how to make a 350 sq ft living space work for two people, still be cute and functional while having enough storage for both of us and my business being home based.  It’s really a work of love that I’ll miss.
10. Date nights in the city with my sweets

Things I won’t miss
1.  Being so far from family and friends
2.  The high prices of everything
3.  Crowds
4.  Winters.  I grew up with nice warm weather close to year round so going back to it is AWESOME!  No more bubble coats with fur.  It’s snowing as I write this.  It’s the end of MARCH.  Not cool.
5.  Traffic and the crazy cabbies.  When you get a good cabbie in NYC, you should count your lucky stars.  Most drive around like their cab is on fire, making you sick from all the stop and go.
6.  Not having a car and not being able to drive with my windows down, music up, singing to the top of my lungs (driving alone of course)
7.  Only being able to buy as much as you can carry
8.  The lack of Southern charm
9.  Crazy people yelling at you on the subway for no apparent reason
10.  The strange smells that NYC can produce

I’m sure there are plenty more I can add to each list but those sum it up nicely.

I have loved working with some really great newborns, families and couples in New York.  I couldn’t have asked for better clients and I will miss everyone.  Thank you for making my time here in NYC full of beautiful memories and allowing me the opportunity to share that with you.  This is where my business truly started and it’s all because of you.

For anyone still holding on to a gift certificate, make sure you contact me ASAP at brittany@brittanylaurenphotography.org to schedule your session.  We are only taking NYC sessions until April 17.  There are limited spots still available so don’t wait.  I would love to work with you before the big move.

See you soon Charlotte!

Not being a big city girl myself, I think I could agree with nearly everything you put on the “won’t miss” list. 🙂 And I heartily agree with #2 on the “will miss” list…people watching gets no better than that found in NYC! Best of luck to you as you move forward into NC. May the best be yet realized!

Congratulations on your move! (Side note: #6 on your won’t miss list is the best!)

Good luck in your move! You’ll love the south! I’m just a little over an hour from Charlotte! I’ve never been to NYC, but things are definitely slower here 🙂
