Jordan and I are about 5 months away from our big day and to say I’m excited is a HUGE understatement.  I cry from pure happiness any time I think about what our wedding day will be like.  Yes, I am a mush.

A little back story
Jordan and I have been together for almost 5 years now.  We started dating in Charlotte in 2009, moved to NYC for 3 years and then back to Charlotte in May 2013.  In October 2013, we went back to NYC to visit friends and, little did I know, Jordan was planning a very sweet, thoughtful proposal.  Before we moved from NYC, we did a “Farewell NYC” photo shoot with the amazing Michelle Lange.  It was the perfect way to end our time in the city but there was one last shot that we didn’t have time for.  We just had too much fun shooting in the West Village and the sun went down before we knew it.  I really wanted to have a shot of Jordan and me with the NYC skyline behind us.

Well, Jordan never forgot that and designed his grand proposal plan around it.  Jordan and Michelle, our lovely photographer, came up with this cute little plan to “finish our photo shoot we’d started months ago” when we visited NYC in October.  Early on in our relationship, Jordan realized how important visually documenting our lives is to me and I’m so happy he took it to heart.  Michelle captured the proposal flawlessly.

As we’re “finishing our photo shoot” with the skyline in the background, my extremely sweet, thoughtful, handsome boyfriend dropped to one knee and became my fiance.  I was obviously surprised.  Some people ask “Well, didn’t you know before he popped the question? It’s not every day someone derives a plan like that.”  That’s the thing, Jordan is always that thoughtful so I didn’t think anything of it.

Fast forward 6 months to our engagement session in Charleston, again, with the fabulous Michelle Lange.  Jordan and I are getting married in this gorgeous, romantic town in September.  Charleston is kind of where we fell in love.  At the beginning of our relationship, we would take little weekend trips to Charleston to visit my best friend.  The 3 hour drives gave us time to really get to know each other and those weekends exploring Charleston were some of the most memorable getaways we’ve had.

For the first part of our session, we strolled through downtown Charleston reliving some of those first memories together 5 years ago.

Then we headed to our wedding venue, Runnymede Plantation, for some fun in the stunning oak trees dripping with spanish moss (my favorite) and a sunset wine picnic by the Ashley River.  Every single image Michelle created for us is a true testament to our love.  Jordan is the most amazing man.  I adore and love everything about him.  He will be one heck of a husband and father to our children if we are blessed with a family.  He always puts me first and loves spending quality time together.  I love how important his family is to him.  I knew from day one he was a keeper just from how he talked to his mom.  I’m so thankful God made him just for me.

Seeing how Michelle has captured our love story from NYC to the proposal and our engagement session just makes me even more excited for our wedding.  She is a true talent with an eye and style that will stand the test of time.  Michelle is also one of the sweetest people I know.  Her energy and love of what she does shines SO bright in her work.

Michelle, THANK YOU so much for all that you have done for us.  You’ve beautifully told our love story in a way we will always cherish.  One day, we will be able to show our children and grandchildren how it all started.  For that, we are truly grateful and blessed to have you as our photographer and friend.  We couldn’t get married without you there!

If you don’t follow Michelle’s work, you need to.  This is her websiteFacebook and Instagram.  She is based out of New Jersey and loves to travel!
