Jordan and I found out we would be moving from NYC to Charlotte, NC a few weeks ago and I knew I had to celebrate our time here in a big way.  I’ve always wanted to do a NYC session and be on the other side of the camera but I hadn’t had a great excuse until now.  I immediately knew I had to call my very sweet and amazingly talented friend Michelle of Michelle Lange.  I also knew that I had to do the same things for myself that I help my clients with for their sessions.  That meant browsing our closets for the perfect outfits, going shopping to bring it together, having my hair and makeup professionally done and planning something special with Michelle.  Although I did a lot of preparation, I don’t think I was ready for the awesomeness and self discovery that happened next.

The day of our big shoot, I was SO excited and a little nervous about being IN FRONT of the camera.  No longer could I hide behind mine.  I had my hair done at Bumble and Bumble down the street from us.  Colin always does an amazing job with my hair and I will miss him so much once we move.  Jara then came over and did a great job on my makeup.  I’ve never really had my makeup professionally done and it felt amazing to put it in the hands of a pro!  At this point, I’m feeling very pampered and special which is a great way to go into a photo shoot.  Just another reason why I highly recommend this to all of my clients.  Below you can see my before and after.  Yes I braved the camera with no makeup.

We are ready!  It was a wee bit chilly that day but Michelle made everything SO fun.  She has a super bubbly personality and absolutely LOVES what she does.  Michelle did her thing and made our photo shoot dreams come true.  I already knew Michelle was awesome to work with but I wasn’t expecting to feel so comfortable, natural and relaxed.  I think it was a combination of our preparation for the shoot, being in front of the camera with Jordan and working with Michelle.  Even Jordan said he really enjoyed our session.  For a male to say that, you know it was a good time.

These are some of my favorite images.  As you can see, there are quite a few favorites.  I can’t even begin to sing Michelle’s praises enough.  When I first viewed our complete gallery of images, I was full of so many emotions.  I cried happy tears, laughed, giggled, jumped up and down a few times and showed them off to anyone near me at the time.  I’m so grateful for the NYC love story that Michelle brought to life.  I couldn’t have imagined it so perfectly.  Make sure you check out Michelle’s blog post of our session as well.  (And keep reading to the bottom!)

I now know how my clients feel after their sessions.  It’s so amazing to create something, see it come to life and, on top of everything else, you have these amazing images and memories to celebrate forever.  I can’t wait to put so many of these up REALLY BIG in our new home in Charlotte and make a gorgeous album that we can one day show our children.  I’m so thankful to have such a sweet, precious love in my life and can’t thank Michelle enough for capturing that for us.

Michelle you are a total rockstar, amazing photographer and I’m lucky to have been in front of your camera.  Thank you for an amazing experience I will treasure forever.
